Roy E. Disney passed away on December 16th, 2009 in Newport Beach, CA after a year's battle with stomach cancer. During his time as the head of the animation department, the company went through what is now called the "Disney Renaissance", which brought us films like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King, just to name a few. Roy was the last active member in the Disney family to be working for the company that was started by his uncle Walt and father Roy Disney.
